Cross Country Future Stars 2 Day Program

Cross Country Future Stars 2 Day is designed for young athletes who are ready to build on their introduction to Nordic skiing with increased time on snow and more consistent training. This program continues to focus on developing fundamental skills while allowing athletes to progress more quickly through repetition and structured coaching.

Athletes are introduced to both skate and classic techniques through drills, games, and guided instruction. With two days of training per week, athletes gain greater confidence, improve coordination, and begin to develop a stronger foundation in both technique and endurance.

This program is an ideal next step for athletes looking to deepen their experience in the sport and prepare for progression into more advanced Nordic programs.

Volunteer Requirements

Points Required: 160

SSCV relies heavily upon the generosity of hundreds of volunteers who give thousands of hours to help with competitions, fundraising and various Club tasks and events. Volunteer points are earned by completing volunteer jobs, and these jobs are assigned a specific number of points based upon difficulty and time needed for completion. SSCV requires each family to complete a predetermined amount of volunteering based upon the programs in which they are involved. The number of points required per family is based upon the athlete’s program (and in the case of multiple athletes, it will be the program in which the most time-committed athlete participates).

There are numerous opportunities, both on and off the snow, throughout the year from May 1, 2026 – April 30, 2027. Opportunities will be shared with families via email as they arise.

Failure to meet your obligation could result in an evaluation of your family’s fit with the program and SSCV culture of volunteerism.

Facilities + Technical Support

Training takes place primarily at Maloit Park, SSCV’s premier Nordic training facility featuring over 10 kilometers of trails designed for both skill development and racing.

Additional training sessions may take place at the Vail Nordic Center, providing exposure to varied terrain and conditions.

Strength Training

At this stage, athletes continue to build foundational skills while being introduced to more consistency in training habits. Basic equipment care and ski preparation are introduced in a simple, age-appropriate way.

Off-snow development focuses on coordination, balance, and general athletic movement. With increased training frequency, athletes begin to develop early endurance and movement patterns that support long-term progression in Nordic skiing.
