Moguls

Mogul Full Time RQS/Devo Team

The Mogul Full-Time Middle School Team is designed for athletes who are ready to commit to a higher level of training focused on mogul skiing and freestyle progression. This program builds on foundational skills while introducing a more structured and performance-driven environment.

Athletes focus on refining mogul technique, including rhythm, line choice, speed control, and absorption, while continuing to develop aerial skills. Training emphasizes consistency, repetition, and progression, helping athletes gain confidence in more challenging terrain and higher speeds.

This program introduces athletes to competitive mogul pathways while continuing to prioritize long-term development and strong technical fundamentals.

Calendar

The Mogul Full-Time Middle School Team operates during the winter season, typically from November through April, with training held multiple days per week, including weekdays, weekends, and holiday periods.

Athletes participate in local and regional mogul competitions depending on readiness and progression. A detailed calendar outlining training sessions, competition opportunities, and key program dates is provided prior to the season.

Volunteer Requirements

Points Required: 160

SSCV relies heavily upon the generosity of hundreds of volunteers who give thousands of hours to help with competitions, fundraising and various Club tasks and events. Volunteer points are earned by completing volunteer jobs, and these jobs are assigned a specific number of points based upon difficulty and time needed for completion. SSCV requires each family to complete a predetermined amount of volunteering based upon the programs in which they are involved. The number of points required per family is based upon the athlete’s program (and in the case of multiple athletes, it will be the program in which the most time-committed athlete participates).

There are numerous opportunities, both on and off the snow, throughout the year from May 1, 2026 – April 30, 2027. Opportunities will be shared with families via email as they arise.

Failure to meet your obligation could result in an evaluation of your family’s fit with the program and SSCV culture of volunteerism.

Facilities + Technical Support

Training takes place on Vail Mountain, utilizing terrain designed for mogul progression, including advanced bump runs and freestyle features for aerial development.

Athletes also benefit from training at Vail Ski & Snowboard Academy, where controlled environments support consistent skill development, repetition, and safe aerial progression.

Strength Training

At this level, athletes begin to take a more structured approach to training and performance. Emphasis is placed on developing strong, consistent technique in moguls and progressing aerial skills.

Off-snow development becomes more consistent, focusing on coordination, balance, strength, and mobility. This supports the physical demands of increased training volume and more advanced terrain.

Athletes also gain exposure to equipment awareness and preparation, helping them understand how setup impacts performance.
