Youth Programs

Future Stars Program

Future Stars is SSCV’s introductory youth program designed to build strong foundational skiing skills while exposing young athletes to multiple disciplines. Athletes experience alpine racing, moguls, and freeski in a fun, supportive environment that emphasizes confidence, balance, and all-mountain skiing ability.

The program focuses on developing well-rounded athletes through movement-based learning, exploration, and repetition. By introducing a variety of training environments early, athletes gain versatility while discovering which disciplines they enjoy most. Future Stars serves as the first step in the SSCV development pathway, preparing athletes for progression into part-time and full-time programs.

Overview

Future Stars is designed to help young skiers build strong foundational skills in a fun, safe, and supportive environment. By introducing athletes to alpine racing, moguls, and freeskiing, the program emphasizes well-rounded development while allowing children to explore different aspects of the sport. Along the way, participants gain confidence on snow and develop important life skills such as teamwork, sportsmanship, perseverance, and respect for others.

Through exposure to multiple skiing disciplines, athletes are encouraged to discover their individual strengths and interests before choosing a specific pathway. The program also places a strong emphasis on on-hill safety, mountain etiquette, and competition-arena protocols, ensuring that children learn how to ski responsibly and confidently in a variety of settings.

By focusing on proper skill development and a strong technical foundation, Future Stars prepares young athletes for long-term success in skiing—whether they continue into competitive programs or simply develop a lifelong love of the sport.

Calendar

Future Stars follows the winter season schedule, typically running from December through March. Training takes place on weekends and select holidays, depending on the program option.

A detailed calendar, including training dates, holiday schedules, and key events, is provided to families prior to the start of the season and updated throughout the winter.

Volunteer Requirements
Points Required: 60

SSCV relies heavily upon the generosity of hundreds of volunteers who give thousands of hours to help with competitions, fundraising and various Club tasks and events. Volunteer points are earned by completing volunteer jobs, and these jobs are assigned a specific number of points based upon difficulty and time needed for completion. SSCV requires each family to complete a predetermined amount of volunteering based upon the programs in which they are involved. The number of points required per family is based upon the athlete’s program (and in the case of multiple athletes, it will be the program in which the most time-committed athlete participates).

There are numerous opportunities, both on and off the snow, throughout the year from May 1, 2026 – April 30, 2027. Opportunities will be shared with families via email as they arise.

Failure to meet your obligation could result in an evaluation of your family’s fit with the program and SSCV culture of volunteerism.

Facilities + Technical Support

Future Stars athletes train primarily on Vail Mountain, utilizing the mountain as our dynamic training ground to develop confident, skilled, and passionate young skiers in a world-class alpine environment.

There is a tune shop as part of the SSCV Clubhouse, with a menu of options available as an add-ons (not included in program fees).

Strength Training

At the Future Stars level, the focus remains on building strong skiing fundamentals and overall athletic movement. While athletes are introduced to proper equipment care and setup, formal technical services are not a primary component of the program at this stage.

Young athletes are encouraged to participate in multiple sports, building strength, coordination, athleticism, and confidence through active play and diverse movement experiences.
