Moguls

Mogul Bumps & Jumps 2 Day Program

Mogul Bumps & Jumps 2 Day is designed for athletes who are ready to build on their introduction to mogul skiing with increased time on snow and more consistent training. This program focuses on developing strong fundamentals in moguls while introducing more structured aerial progression in a fun and supportive environment.

Athletes continue to refine balance, control, and rhythm in moguls while gaining confidence on varied terrain. Training includes drills, freeskiing, and introductory jumping, helping athletes develop coordination, timing, and overall freestyle awareness.

With two days of training each week, athletes benefit from increased repetition and coaching, allowing for faster progression and improved consistency.

The Mogul Bumps & Jumps 2 Day program runs during the winter season, typically from November through March, with training held two days per week, including weekends and select holidays.

The increased training schedule allows athletes to build consistency and confidence in both moguls and jumping progression. A detailed calendar outlining training sessions and key program dates is provided prior to the season.

Volunteer Requirements

Points Required: 160

SSCV relies heavily upon the generosity of hundreds of volunteers who give thousands of hours to help with competitions, fundraising and various Club tasks and events. Volunteer points are earned by completing volunteer jobs, and these jobs are assigned a specific number of points based upon difficulty and time needed for completion. SSCV requires each family to complete a predetermined amount of volunteering based upon the programs in which they are involved. The number of points required per family is based upon the athlete’s program (and in the case of multiple athletes, it will be the program in which the most time-committed athlete participates).

There are numerous opportunities, both on and off the snow, throughout the year from May 1, 2026 – April 30, 2027. Opportunities will be shared with families via email as they arise.

Failure to meet your obligation could result in an evaluation of your family’s fit with the program and SSCV culture of volunteerism.

For questions regarding volunteer requirements, point balances, or on-snow opportunities, please contact Land Collioure Le Coq at llecoq@skiclubvail.org. For off-snow and event-related opportunities, please contact Liz Filipowicz at lfilipowicz@skiclubvail.org.

Please note that failure to meet volunteer requirements may result in a reevaluation of your family’s participation in SSCV programs and alignment with the club’s culture of volunteerism.

Facilities + Technical Support

Facilities

Training takes place on Vail Mountain, utilizing terrain that supports mogul development, including bump runs and freestyle features appropriate for progression.

Athletes may also train at Vail Ski & Snowboard Academy, where controlled environments support skill development and safe aerial progression.

Strength Training

At this stage, athletes begin to develop more consistent movement patterns and body awareness in moguls and jumping. Training focuses on coordination, rhythm, and control.

Off-snow development remains age-appropriate, emphasizing balance, agility, and general athletic movement. Athletes are also introduced to basic equipment awareness and safe freestyle practices.
