Moguls

Mogul Part-Time Team

The Mogul Part-Time Team is designed for athletes who want to continue developing their mogul skiing skills in a structured and supportive environment while maintaining a flexible training schedule. This program builds on foundational skills and introduces more consistency in training without the full-time commitment.

Athletes focus on refining mogul fundamentals, including balance, rhythm, line choice, and control, while continuing to progress their jumping skills. Training includes a mix of bump skiing, drills, freeskiing, and structured aerial development.

This program is ideal for athletes who are passionate about mogul skiing and want to improve their skills while balancing other commitments.

Calendar

The Mogul Part-Time Team runs during the winter season, typically from November through March, with training held multiple days per week, including weekends and select holidays.

Athletes may have the opportunity to participate in local and regional mogul competitions, depending on readiness and interest. A detailed calendar outlining training sessions, competition opportunities, and key program dates is provided prior to the season.

Volunteer Requirements

Points Required: 160

SSCV relies heavily upon the generosity of hundreds of volunteers who give thousands of hours to help with competitions, fundraising and various Club tasks and events. Volunteer points are earned by completing volunteer jobs, and these jobs are assigned a specific number of points based upon difficulty and time needed for completion. SSCV requires each family to complete a predetermined amount of volunteering based upon the programs in which they are involved. The number of points required per family is based upon the athlete’s program (and in the case of multiple athletes, it will be the program in which the most time-committed athlete participates).

There are numerous opportunities, both on and off the snow, throughout the year from May 1, 2026 – April 30, 2027. Opportunities will be shared with families via email as they arise.

Failure to meet your obligation could result in an evaluation of your family’s fit with the program and SSCV culture of volunteerism.

Facilities + Technical Support

Training takes place on Vail Mountain, utilizing terrain designed for mogul progression, including bump runs and freestyle features for aerial development.

Athletes may also train at Vail Ski & Snowboard Academy, where controlled environments support consistent skill development and safe progression.

Strength Training

Athletes continue to develop stronger movement patterns and consistency in moguls, while progressing their aerial skills. Emphasis is placed on rhythm, control, and building confidence in more challenging terrain.

Off-snow development focuses on coordination, balance, and strength in an age-appropriate format, supporting the physical demands of mogul skiing and increased time on snow.
