Snowboard Mini Shreds 1 Day Program

Snowboard Mini Shreds 1 Day is designed for young athletes who are ready to be introduced to snowboarding in a fun, safe, and supportive environment. This program focuses on building foundational skills while helping athletes develop confidence and a love for the sport.

Athletes learn basic snowboard fundamentals, including balance, turning, stopping, and terrain awareness. Training incorporates a mix of drills, guided riding, and games to keep athletes engaged while building strong movement patterns.

This program is an ideal entry point into SSCV’s snowboard pathway and prepares athletes for progression into multi-day Mini Shreds programs and more advanced teams.

Calendar

The Snowboard Mini Shreds 1 Day program runs during the winter season, typically from November through March, with training held one day per week, primarily on weekends.

Training sessions focus on building confidence, foundational skills, and comfort on varied terrain. A detailed calendar outlining training days and key program information is provided prior to the season.

Volunteer Requirements

Points Required: 160

SSCV relies heavily upon the generosity of hundreds of volunteers who give thousands of hours to help with competitions, fundraising and various Club tasks and events. Volunteer points are earned by completing volunteer jobs, and these jobs are assigned a specific number of points based upon difficulty and time needed for completion. SSCV requires each family to complete a predetermined amount of volunteering based upon the programs in which they are involved. The number of points required per family is based upon the athlete’s program (and in the case of multiple athletes, it will be the program in which the most time-committed athlete participates).

There are numerous opportunities, both on and off the snow, throughout the year from May 1, 2026 – April 30, 2027. Opportunities will be shared with families via email as they arise.

Failure to meet your obligation could result in an evaluation of your family’s fit with the program and SSCV culture of volunteerism.

Facilities + Technical Support

Training takes place on Vail Mountain, utilizing beginner-friendly terrain and progression areas that support skill development in a safe and controlled environment.

Athletes may also be introduced to terrain features at Vail Ski & Snowboard Academy when appropriate, allowing for gradual progression into freestyle elements.

Strength Training

At this level, the focus is on building balance, coordination, and confidence on a snowboard. Athletes are introduced to basic equipment awareness and safe riding practices.

Off-snow development is minimal and age-appropriate, focusing on coordination, agility, and overall athletic movement to support long-term development.
