Program Details

Overview

The Alpine U10 Full-Time Team is designed for young athletes who are ready to take a significant step into structured, high-frequency training. This program builds on foundational skills while introducing a more consistent training schedule, increased time on snow, and early exposure to competitive alpine environments.

Athletes focus on developing strong technical fundamentals through a combination of gate training, freeskiing, and repetition. The program emphasizes long-term athlete development, confidence in a race environment, and creating positive habits that support progression into higher-level competitive teams.

Calendar

The U10 Full-Time Team follows a winter season schedule from November through March, with training taking place multiple days per week, including weekdays, weekends, and select holidays.

Athletes participate in age-appropriate competitions, including local and regional race series such as the Vail Cup and Rocky Mountain Youth events. A detailed calendar outlining training sessions, races, and key dates is provided prior to the start of the season.

Volunteer Requirements
Points Required: 160

SSCV relies heavily upon the generosity of hundreds of volunteers who give thousands of hours to help with competitions, fundraising and various Club tasks and events. Volunteer points are earned by completing volunteer jobs, and these jobs are assigned a specific number of points based upon difficulty and time needed for completion. SSCV requires each family to complete a predetermined amount of volunteering based upon the programs in which they are involved. The number of points required per family is based upon the athlete’s program (and in the case of multiple athletes, it will be the program in which the most time-committed athlete participates).

There are numerous opportunities, both on and off the snow, throughout the year from May 1, 2026 – April 30, 2027. Opportunities will be shared with families via email as they arise.

Failure to meet your obligation could result in an evaluation of your family’s fit with the program and SSCV culture of volunteerism.

Facilities + Technical Support

Training takes place primarily at Golden Peak, one of the premier alpine training venues in North America. Athletes benefit from consistent access to race lanes, varied terrain, and early-season training supported by advanced snowmaking.

This environment allows for high-quality training focused on skill development, repetition, and progression.

Strength Training

As part of the full-time pathway, U10 athletes are introduced to the importance of proper equipment setup and care. Athletes have access to SSCV Technical Services at Golden Peak for tuning support, equipment preparation, and guidance.

Off-snow development is incorporated in an age-appropriate way, focusing on coordination, balance, and athletic movement. While strength training remains foundational at this stage, athletes begin building habits that support long-term athletic development and injury prevention.
