Dear SSCV Families & Athletes,
Mark your calendar! This January we are replacing the 4th Annual Downhill Dash with our newly consolidated scholarship fundraiser, the Epic “Month Long Bring It On”. Instead of selling holiday trees and greenery, or raffle tickets, we are combining all of our efforts into this one all-important, MAJOR scholarship fundraiser. The newly-formed “Month Long Bring It On” ski/ride-a-thon is for ALL of our disciplines and our goal is to have ALL of our athletes participate. There will be goals set for each discipline with prizes available to the highest goal achievers, as well as for the highest fundraisers. We are looking forward to having one super fun and all-encompassing fundraiser.
About the Epic “Month Long Bring It On”:
The athletes of each discipline will have a specific set of challenges set forth. For example, alpine racers, mogul skiers, freeskiers, and snowboarders will participate in a Vertical Challenge where they will compete to ski the highest number of vertical feet for the entire monthof January. Vertical mileage will be tracked with Vail Resort’s bEpicMix and the participants who ski or ride the most vertical feet will win prizes. Nordic athletes will track the mileage they put in for the month of January through their monitors and by their coaches. All athletes will be asked to collect pledges for their participation, making this a competition both on and off of the snow!
About the SSCV Scholarship Fund:
We believe that no one should be restricted from participating in SSCV programs because of financial reasons. Hundreds of boys and girls have been beneficiaries of scholarships from SSCV to help defray program costs. Last year, 100 kids from our over 500 participants, or nearly 20% of SSCV athletes, received assistance totaling over $150,000. As SSCV athletes are direct beneficiaries of the Scholarship Fund, we ask all of our athletes to participate in a scholarship event eash season. This is your chance to make a difference!
The competitors will be able to ask friends and family to support them by donating to the SSCV Scholarship Fund in weeks prior and during the month of January. Look for more information forthcoming about how to register your EpicMix account, create a team, fundraise as an individual or even start your own fundraising webpage. Athletes will be able to solicit donations online as well as in person.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact Emmy Hoyt at ehoyt@skiclubvail.org or 970.790.5122.
Bring It On!
Sincerely,
Jennie Fancher, Ann L’Esperance, Amy Pates and Leslie Snyder
