USASA Rocky Mountain Division Snowboard Slopestyle at Golden Peak Last Saturday-Ski & Snowboard Club Vail Snowboard Program Director Ben Boyd-from Sochi Olympics to USASA Grommet Youngsters It’s All Part of the Journey

Over 55 snowboarders gathered in the park at Golden Peak last Saturday for a Rocky Mountain Division USASA Slopestyle competition hosted by Ski & Snowboard Club Vail (SSCV).

Ski & Snowboard Club Vail’s Snowboard Program Director, Ben Boyd, just back from the Sochi Olympics where three current SSCV athletes and one SSCV alumna competed, shared,  “It is exciting after just returning from the Olympics to be working with our young riders.  USASA events are where the journey begins for these Olympians.”

Boyd continued, “The Rocky Mountain USASA crew and our coaches do a great job of keeping it fun at competitions and keeping these youngsters inspired to work hard and take their sport to the next level.  As I’ve always said, it is more about the journey than the end results.  The results will come if the journey is a fun, progression-oriented adventure.”

Among the riders SSCV’s Tieg Wachter took 2nd in the Grommet Boys (8-9) division, SSCV’s Oliver Pilas took 4th in the Open Class Men, SSCV’s Cooper Shonk took 1st in the Ruggie Boys (7 & under).
