As the ski racing season is now in full swing, racers head out in different directions to compete in numerous different events. This past weekend, Ski & Snowboard Club Vail (SSCV) racers headed out to Squaw, Park City, and Steamboat. Steamboat has received an incredible amount of snow in the past few weeks, but the U16 female racers weren’t there for the deep snow (although I’m sure they did a bit of freeskiing after the event). The U16 racers went over to the Smartwool Giant Slalom race with the goal of landing on the podium, which they certainly did.

SSCV’s Rachael Desrochers crushed the field of 90 girls by almost two full seconds for the win. Desrochers had an incredible day and she is certainly going to be a name to remember in the future. Heidi Livran followed directly behind Desrochers and landed in second place. Anna Martin had a great top 10 finish placing in eighth overall.

The Smartwool races feature the best up and coming racers about to step into the next division where they will be racing in FIS events like the NorAm currently being held on Golden Peak.
