Ski & Snowboard Club Vail’s J5 team came away from the J5 Finale held at Powderhorn with the overall team trophy after their results from two days of competition.

With over 180 athletes, representing 17 clubs from across the Rocky Mountain region, SSCV collected several podium finishes on both days.

In Saturday’s giant slalom, 3/12, the J5 girls had Brianna Trudeau winning both races, with Elise Viola taking a fourth and second in her A.M. and P.M. runs.  Sylka Snyder placed third in the P.M. run giving SSCV a podium sweep in the afternoon GS with Trudeau, Viola, and Snyder going one, two, and three.

Max Bervy and Gus Leblanc took their turn in Saturday’s GS with the morning race seeing Bervy in second and Leblanc in third.  The P.M. race had Leblanc climbing to second and Bervy in fifth.

Sunday, 3/13, the skiers raced slalom, and for the girls, Brianna Trudeau walked away with two more wins under her belt, taking first in both slaloms.

Kendra Hoyt and Olivia Clauss placed second and fourth, respectively, in the A.M. race, while Elise Viola finished fourth in the afternoon SL.

In Sunday’s SL for the boys, Gus Leblanc and Max Bervy took first and second in the morning race, with Bervy racing to the win in the afternoon run.

“I’m very proud of how the whole team skied this weekend, and how they defended the overall team title from last season,” said head J5 coach Rika Moore.
