The Surefoot Colorado Ski Cup tour moved to Winter Park for a women’s GS while the men were at Breckenridge for one Surefoot SL and a FIS University SL.
For the women’s race, two young Ski & Snowboard Club Vail girls stepped up with some very good skiing.
“It was a great race today for a couple of our J2 girls,” said coach Dan Strip
Katie Talbot and Erika McCormick, both just 15 years old and in their first year of FIS racing, laid down a pair of runs that put them in the pack.
Talbot charged the hill to finish on the first page of results in 15th, and was the fastest J2. McCormick skied to 19th, and was the second fastest J2 on this day.
“McCormick skied really well,” said coach Dan Stripp. “And Talbot had an awesome day. She made the flip 30 her first run and skied a smart, solid second run.”
The SSCV men had Taylor Shiffrin race to a 12th place in the Surefoot slalom and 17th in the FIS U make up slalom.
“These are very good results for Shiffrin,” said Stripp.
The Surefoot Colorado Ski Cup continues today with more GS action for the men and women at Winter Park.
