The Vail Valley Composite Team finished 3rd just barely behind Fairview High School in the Peaceful Valley Invitational in Elbert this past weekend. The Peaceful Valley course starts at 7,000 feet in the Palmer Divide and Black Forest area. The Vail Valley Composite Team, lead by Ski & Snowboard Club Vail’s Nordic Director Dan Weiland, has been on a roll this season. Going in to the championships in Fruta on October 21, the D1 Composite team is in 3rd place out of 12 schools. As we begin to approach winter, it is not uncommon for the championship racers to see snow and rather chilly temperatures.

Some of the exceptional riders from the team are in great position going in to the final race. Heidi Livran is in 2nd place overall, Ian Boucher is in 3rd place overall, and Quintin Cook is in 1st place overall. The individual results from the team at the Peaceful Valley Invitational exceeded expectations.

John Bailey rode well placing 11th, Clayton Davis placed 16th, Brinton Barry placed 22nd, and Caleb Krueger placed 23rd in the boys varsity category. Hannah Hardenbergh was 8th in the girls varsity category.

Ian Boucher was 4th and Noah Beairsto was 16th in the boys junior varsity category. Clare Baker was 8th in the girls junior varsity category.

Logan Martin finished 9th and Tagert Mueller finished 20th in the boys sophomore category. Heidi Livran finished 1st and Rita Gutierrez finished 9th in the girls sophomore category.

Quintin Cook placed 3rd, Luke Vickerman placed 6th, and Colbey Derwin placed 14th in the boys freshman category.

Heidi Livran had a great win this past weekend which helped boost the teams overall score. The next and final race will be the season Championships in Fruta on October 21.
