The NorAm MacDermid Cup wrapped up its six race series on Tuesday, 2/7, with a giant slalom race for the men, and on the final day of this NorAm stop, Ski & Snowboard Club Vail’s Charles Christianson skied to a fifth place.
Christianson, starting 13th, was in 19th after his first run, which meant he had some serious work to do if he wanted to move up through the field.
“The first run was a really technical set,” said Christianson. “Halfway down I made a big mistake, and my placing after that run reflected my error. On my second run I had a new focus.”
And that focus worked. Christianson ripped down the track with the fastest second run of the day to move up from 19th to a fifth place.
“I skied like I know how to ski and I took care of business,” Christianson said. “I kept the momentum going down the hill, and I’m proud of that.”
From here, Christianson goes to the FIS University races in Alaska.
