Communications-U16 Mens SL 3-17-16 to Vail Daily 3-17-16

Amidst a mixture of flurries, clouds and sunshine on the final day of the U16 Rocky Central Junior Championships hosted by Ski & Snowboard Club Vail, the men and women had a great day of slalom racing on Golden Peak.  Top 10 finishers for the Women’s and Men’s Slalom are pictured above.

For the women, in the top row, first place went to Tegan Wold of Ski & Snowboard Club Vail (middle), second place went to Cleo Braun of Ski & Snowboard Club Vail (left) and third place went to Hannah Soria of Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club (right). In the bottom row, from right to left are Michaela Strizencova (4th from Ski & Snowboard Club Vail), Lauren Geary (5th from Buck Hill), Caroline Jones and Gretchen Pavelich (tied for 6th from Ski & Snowboard Club Vail), Taylor Brandt (8th from Ski & Snowboard Club Vail), Campbell Sullivan (9th from Ski & Snowboard Club Vail) and Ashley Winberg (10th from Team Duluth).  Avery Leonard won the Women’s “Bibbo” Award as the Slalom racer moving up the furthest of any other racer that day from her initial starting position of 89 to a 39th place finish.

For the men, in the top row, first place went to Burke Fancher of Ski & Snowboard Club Vail (middle), second place went to Gus Leblanc of Ski & Snowboard Club Vail (left) and third place went to Max Bervy of Ski & Snowboard Club Vail (right).  In the bottom row, from right to left are Eric Negomir (4th from Ski & Snowboard Club Vail), Zachary Dekko (5th from Buck Hill), Kellen Kinsella (6th from Ski & Snowboard Club Vail), Isaiah Nelson (7th from Buck Hill), Blake Bathum (8th from Ski & Snowboard Club Vail), Maxwell Timm (9th from Ski & Snowboard Club Vail) and Andrew Thomas (10th from Great Lakes Ski Academy.  The Men’s “Bibbo” Award for the Slalom went to Christian Hilbert of Telluride Ski & Snowboard Club as the athlete moving up the furthest from his initial start position of 79 to his final 29th place finish.
