What do you get when you cross giant slalom and little big mountain?

Last Sunday’s Steadman Clinic Vail Cup

Tradition is wonderful, especially 50 years of it.  Tradition, coupled with evolution, is even more exciting.  That is what the Steadman Clinic Vail Cup is all about.   This four part complimentary competition series hosted by Ski & Snowboard Club Vail for youngsters birth year 1998 and younger, is open to skiers and riders, whether they live in or are visitors to the Vail Valley, and whether or not they are members of Ski & Snowboard Club Vail.

Sunday’s Vail Cup preserved tradition, running a giant slalom race on Golden Peak in the afternoon, juxtaposed with a Big Mountain competition on Head First in the morning, known as “Little Big Mountain” to this young generation of Vail Cup athletes.

Under beautiful sunny skies a field of approximately 200 competitors, in spite of it being “GO BRONCOS DAY!”, enjoyed their own Super-Sunday.

It’s not too late for children to join in on the fun at the Steadman Clinic Vail Cup’s February 16th Halfpipe and Moguls events and the March 16th Nordic and Giant Slalom events and yearend barbeque.  Visit www.vailcup.com for details.
