Ski & Snowboard Club Vail had another very good day for its J4 squad on Sunday, 2/27, in the Prater Cup at Crested Butte as the men skied two slalom races and the women raced two giant slaloms.

The morning GS for the women had Nellie Talbot in third, Whitney Merriman, fifth, Haily Norvell seventh, and Hannah Clauss in ninth.

The women’s P.M. GS saw Merriman in third, Talbot in 10th, and Norvell finishing 13th.

In the morning slalom for the men, Colby Lange took first, Brendan Keane, second, Jack Keane, fourth, Erik Weiss, fifth, Jacob Dilling, ninth, and Chadwick Mulligan finished 12th.

The afternoon SL had Jack Keane take first, Brendan Keane, fifth, Luke Vickerman, eighth, Jacob Dilling, ninth, Flinn Lazier, 11th, Chadwick Mulligan, 13th, and Patrick Ottley placing 14th.

“SSCV had a solid three days of competition,” said coach Krissie Poehling.  “It’s always great to see athletes performing at their best.”

As a result of SSCV’s solid showing in the Prater Cup, 22 of the team’s J4 skiers qualified for the J4 Junior Olympics.

SSCV women making it to the Rocky/Central JO competition: Whitney Merriman, Haily Norvell, Jessica McMurtry, Dylan Fiore, Nellie Talbot, Hannah Clauss, Paula Cooper, and Katelin Hennum.

SSCV men qualifying: Colby Lange, Brendan Keane, Jack Keane, Luke Vickerman, Erik Weiss, Flinn Lazier, Jacob Dilling, Paul Cuthbertson, Riley Kilgore, Chad Mulligan, Colin Suzynski, Ryan Collins, Patrick Ottley, and Peer Carnes.

The J4 Junior Olympics will be March 16 through 19 at Steamboat.
