Ski & Snowboard Club Vail has successfully renewed U.S. Ski and Snowboard Podium Certification at the Gold level.

U.S. Ski & Snowboard’s Podium Club Certification Program requires a rigorous, mission-driven self-assessment and review of best principles and practices in eight areas of organizational performance. SSCV has demonstrated appropriate levels of performance in all areas and is recognized as an important partner of U.S. Ski and Snowboard and a leader among ski and snowboard clubs in the nation.

At the U.S. Ski & Snowboard annual Congress, SSCV was recognized for the Gold-level distinction. John Casson, who presented the award on behalf of the governing body, joined SSCV’s Human Performance Director John “JC” Cole on stage.

The certification is intended for clubs that are “best in the world,” according to U.S. Ski & Snowboard. These clubs serve as a model both organizationally and athletically and are resources to the sport as a whole in the U.S.

“Working in close partnership with our member clubs to recognize excellence and create a platform for continued improvement is a priority for our organization,” said Luke Bodensteiner, U.S. Ski & Snowboard chief of sport. “Our clubs are our sport’s biggest asset to athlete recruitment, development and retention, and working hand-in-hand with them will enhance their levels of achievement and will transform the performance of our athletes and teams at all levels.”

Certified clubs are an amazing resource for our industry and U.S. Ski and Snowboard’s partnership with our podium certified clubs goes both ways. One of the primary goals of the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Club Development Program is to collect, synthesize and analyze valuable information from these resources and report back on what is working, what is not and why.

“The U.S. Ski & Snowboard Club Certification program is a valuable resource for all our clubs,” said Jon Casson, U.S. Ski & Snowboard sport education director. “Our clubs all are working hard to be the best they can be and give all of their athletes a great experience in skiing and snowboarding.  The Certification program gives our clubs the resources they need to assess and improve their structure and programs to meet their organizational goals and the goals of the thousands of U.S. Ski and Snowboard athletes across the U.S.”
