Ski & Snowboard Club Vail’s Anne Strong skied her way to some sound results in the University of Denver Invitational giant slalom races on Thursday, 2/10, and Friday, 2/11, at Winter Park.
Racing against a field of older collegiate athletes, Strong turned her start number of 34 into a 17th place finish on Thursday.
In Friday’s GS, Strong’s first run put her in 17th, a big jump for her according to coach Dan Stripp, but a couple of mistakes on her second run bumped her back to 23rd.
“Strong is proving she can compete with the college girls,” coach Stripp said. “She is skiing really well, and I think that where her career is going, this is a great showing for her.”
Strong is finishing up high school this year at Vail Ski & Snowboard Academy and will be attending Dartmouth College next fall.
