Moltzan, a 16-year-old J2, was 12th after the first run, and had the fifth fastest second run to earn the silver against some of the nation’s fastest women collegiate skiers.

“Coach Stripp told me to just go for it on my second run.” said Moltzan.  “I had a lot of fun watching my teammates do well today, and I’m really excited about my performance.  It’s nice to have some good runs after all the hard work.”

“Paula had a really good second run,” Stripp said  “To finish with the fifth fastest time in the second run, and to place second for the day, is outstanding,”

For Taylor Rapley and Anne Strong, who placed 29th and 30th on the first run, the second start was a great opportunity to run in front of the rest of the pack (the top 30 from the first run go in reverse order for the second run; Strong went first on run two and Rapley went second).  With their early start, Strong won the second run by .60 seconds to finish 16th overall while Rapley was third fastest on run number two, and she finished 19th overall.

“Strong and Rapley put great second runs down the track,” coach Stripp said.  “It was very exciting to watch them do so well.”
