The Millennium Bank Colorado Junior Ski Cup Championships wrapped up Sunday with slalom races for the men and women.

In the men’s SL, Ski & Snowboard Club Vail’s Cannon O’Brien and Christoph Niederhauser finished fourth and fifth, while Sean McCormick placed 15th.

For the women, SSCV’s Celine Guilmineau, in first place by over two seconds on her first run, ran into trouble at the bottom of the course on her second run and finished in 10th place.  Annika Trapness placed 19th for the day.

After winning three races at these championships, two giant slaloms and one slalom race, Greta Byrne ran into problems on her first slalom run Sunday.

“Byrne was ripping through the soft snow when she hooked her tip on a gate and skied out,” coach Nick Asoian said.

For the overall awards in this four race Millennium Bank Championships, Byrne placed first overall for the women and O’Brien took third overall for the men.

“I skied well every run,” O’Brien said.  “I was consistent in all four races and was able to ski like I have in training.”
