Slalom was the race for Saturday in the J4 Rocky/Central Championships at Steamboat , with a morning and afternoon SL run for the boys and girls.

The A.M. SL for the boys had SSCV’s Jack Keane and Colby Lange take first and second.

“I’m pretty excited about my win in the morning run,” said Keane.  “I didn’t feel that good in the top section of the course, but in the bottom part I pressed on and nailed it.”

Brendan Keane, Flinn Lazier, and Luke Vickerman skied to sixth, ninth, and 16th in the morning’s race.

Whitney Merriman and Paula Cooper took 12th and 15th in the A.M. SL for the girls.

The P.M. SL for the boys saw Jack Keane take his second podium of the day with a third place, missing the silver by only .08 seconds.  Colby Lange took fourth in the afternoon race with Brendan Keane finishing eighth, and Flinn Lazier in ninth.

Nellie Talbot and Whitney Merriman skied to eighth and 14th, respectively, in the afternoon SL.

“The team skied well,” said coach Jason Russell.  “Most of SSCV’s boys and girls moved up from their start positions.  All the coaches are very proud with how the team executed what we’ve been working on all year.”
