The Rocky/Central J3 Junior Olympics in Aspen took to the hill on Wednesday, 3/9, for a super g race, and Ski & Snowboard Club Vail’s Megan McGrew skied to second place, a mere 3/100ths of a second away from the winner, Steamboat’s Chandler Sedberry.
“McGrew charged the hill,” said coach Melissa Jones. “It was a bluebird day with great visibility, so the kids were able to attack.”
SSCV women also occupied four other spots in the top 15 with Grace Merriman in eighth, Abigail Murer, ninth, Lean Newton, 14th, and Rachael Desrochers finishing 15th. Other SSCV notables include Katie Talbot in 19th, Erika McCormick, 21st, Kelly Balfanz, 23rd, Bailey Kuechenmeister, 24th, and Sahsa Horn in 28th.
In the men’s SG, River Radamus skied to an eighth, Logan Martin moved up from his start of 33 to finish 13th, Quintin Cook took 19th, Clayton Kirwood, 20th, and Ryan Schmidt placed 28th.
“Radamus skiing to an eighth was awesome for him, and for Martin to move up to a 13th finish was very good,” said coach Jones.
The Rocky/Central J3 Junior Olympics continues Thursday, 3/10, with a GS race for the men.
