Opening Ceremonies for the U16 Rocky Central Junior Championships hosted by Ski & Snowboard Club Vail included a parade of Ski & Snowboard Club Vail athletes skiing down Golden Peak carrying the US flag and signs representing each of the clubs from the Rocky Central Region which have athletes competing in the Junior Championships.
On Sunday, March 13, Ski & Snowboard Club Vail hosted the first day of the USSA U16 Rocky Central Junior Championships races at Golden Peak with a Men’s and Women’s Downhill. Top ten finishers for the Men’s Downhill are pictured above. In the top row, first place went to Tanner Perkins of Crested Butte Mountain Sports Team (middle), second place to Gus Leblanc of Ski & Snowboard Club Vail (right), and third place to Burke Fancher of Ski & Snowboard Club Vail (left). In the bottom row, from right to left are Blake Bathum (4th from Ski & Snowboard Club Vail), Henry Heaydon (5th from Ski & Snowboard Club Vail), Maxwell Timm (6th from Ski & Snowboard Club Vail), Jake Bassi (7th from Aspen Valley Ski Club), Eric Negomir (8th from Ski & Snowboard Club Vail), Jack Bowers (9th from Aspen Valley Ski Club), and Chase Seymour (10th from Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club). The Men’s “Bibbo” Award for the Downhill went to Kellen Kinsella of Ski & Snowboard Club Vail as the athlete moving up the furthest from his initial starting position to his final result. Kellen moved from a starting position of 76th to a 20th place finish.

In the top row, first place went to Gretchen Pavelich of Ski & Snowboard Club Vail (middle), second place went to Hannah Soria of Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club (right), and third place went to Taylor Brandt of Ski & Snowboard Club Vail (left). In the bottom row, from right to left, are Margo McHugh (4th from Aspen Valley Ski Club), Sarah Rowe (5th from the National Training Group), Mariel Gorsuch (6th from Aspen Valley Ski Club), Michaela Strizencova (7th from Ski & Snowboard Club Vail), Sequoia Anstine (8th from Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club), Allie Resnick (9th from Ski & Snowboard Club Vail) and Ainsley Proffit and Emma Hall (tied for 10th and both from Ski & Snowboard Club Vail). Allie Resnick also won the Women’s “Bibbo” Award moving from a starting position of 59th to her 9th place finish.
