Press Release-Young Ski & Snowboard Club Vail Age Class racers enjoy and perform at weekend long U10 Championships in Telluride-March 9, 2015

Sunny, warm weather and a quality venue made the perfect setting for the U10 Championships in Telluride, Colorado this past weekend.  Eight and nine-year old alpine age class racers from throughout Colorado as well as Flagstaff, Arizona gathered together for this fun, season culminating event to compete in both Slalom and Giant Slalom.

Nine girls and seven boys from Ski & Snowboard Club Vail’s U10 SpeedQuest Program who compete in United States Ski and Snowboard Association Age Class Races headed to Telluride to compete in the U10 Championships.  According to Mike Wolfson, SSCV’s Head SpeedQuest coach, “We saw some great results this weekend in both Slalom and Giant Slalom from our athletes.    It was a great culmination to our racing season to bring all of the U10 Age Class racers to one spot, thickening the pot when it comes to competition.”

Wolfson continued, “The race department did a great job in creating a quality venue.  It was a fair hill for these youngsters to race on in a festive, weekend long relatively low key environment.”

SSCV athletes took 15 of the 24 top three podium finishes this weekend, a great showing for this young group of competitors.

According to Wolfson, “Keeping it fun for these young athletes in their journey of competitive ski racing is key.  The U10 Championships provide a great opportunity to do just that.  I am so excited to see the progress made this season through the hard work of both coaches and athletes and the commitment of our families.”
