With several top ten finishes under her belt this season, Ski & Snowboard Club Vail’s Taylor Rapley moved up from her start number of 23 to place third for the junior women and 11th overall in The U.S. Alpine National Championship Super G on Friday.
“Taylor had a good run,” coach Dan Stripp said. “She listened to the course report and did a good job making it happen. The way today’s race unfolded, her tactics paid off.”
The U.S. Team’s Julia Mancuso took the Super G win while her teammates Leanne Smith and Stacey Cook placed second and third.
Stripp commented that many of the women in Friday’s Super G had trouble with the hill and the course, and under sunny skies, the snow got softer as the temperatures warmed.
“It was a difficult course set,” said Stripp. “A lot of people made mistakes during their run, including our girls.”
The men and women race slalom today, 4/3, as the U.S. Alpine Nationals continue at Winter Park.
