Ski & Snowboard Club Vail’s young development freestyle team took to Vail’s Cookshack mogul venue on Saturday.  This is the same run used in last week’s contest for some of the best bump skiers in the Rocky Mountain Division, and SSCV’s Mallory Skidmore came away with her third win so far this season taking first in her J4 age group, and first overall.

“SSCV’s development freestyle team has been skiing very strong all week,” said coach Derek Redd.  “And I’m proud of the success Skidmore is having,”

SSCV’s Katie Coyne was right behind Skidmore taking second for the J4s and second overall, while Maggie Berger charged to a personal best with a 5th for the J4 girls.

Maggie Skidmore, Mallory’s sister, took first for the J5 girls and Kai Owens skied to a first for the J6 girls.

For the J5 boys, Maddux Rose ripped his run to finish in second.

“The course ran great with the fresh snow,” said Redd.  “And it became even more challenging as the competition continued.  It was nice to see our team rise to the challenge and ski better with each run.”

The Vail Valley development mogul competition continues today with a dual (head-to-head) contest on Cookshack.
