This past Saturday Ski & Snowboard Club Vail’s (SSCV) Youth Ski League (YSL) athletes competed in a YSL slalom race in Beaver Creek amidst a field of approximately 150 racers from Vail and nearby race clubs.  The U8-U12 athletes raced on a 50 gate slalom stubby course while the older U14-U16 athletes competed in a 47 tall gate course, marking the first time YSL athletes have competed with tall gates.

Rika Moore, Head Coach of SSCV’s YSL program, stated, “It was great to see our athletes beaming faces after skiing the longest run of their young racing careers on a challenging slalom venue at Beaver Creek.  We are so proud of these youngsters and how well prepared they were.”

When asked about the venue, Moore continued, “It was a beautiful bluebird day and the course conditions were fantastic thanks to the tireless efforts of the Beaver Creek Race Crew, the same crew that helped support the World Championships a few weeks ago.  We are also very grateful for the help of our volunteers, parents and coaches.”
