This past Sunday’s Head Rebel Youth Ski League Kombi event hosted by Ski & Snowboard Club Vail provided tons of fun for alpine racers ranging in age from 8 through 15. Competitors raced down Vail Mountain’s Black Forest, which included a series of small jumps and undulating terrain with multiple stubby slalom and giant slalom gates.

Ski & Snowboard Club Vail’s athletes are in the thick of the competition season.  From the six year-old competing in the complimentary Steadman Clinic Vail Cup to senior athletes striving to qualify for national or collegiate team status, athletes are working hard to be a little bit better every day than they were the day before.

Financial Aid-Helping Dreams Come True

One of Ski & Snowboard Club Vail’s (SSCV) key initiatives over my time with the organization has been providing opportunities for children to fulfill their snow sports dreams regardless of financial means. In the past nine years over $1.3 million in financial aid has been awarded to SSCV athletes. In the current season SSCV will award over $230,000 in financial aid to more than 120 youngsters covering up to 75% of SSCV program fees, more than a tenfold increase in financial aid from the $20,000 awarded annually in the recent past.
