It is the time of year when many are focused on that New Year’s resolution to adopt a healthier lifestyle, get in shape and/or achieve a higher level of performance in their favorite sport.

The Steadman Clinic Vail Cup hosted by Ski & Snowboard Club Vail kicked off on Sunday with the first of a four part complimentary competition series for athletes birth year 2000 and younger at Golden Peak.

In keeping with our motto, “For the Kids”, Ski & Snowboard Club Vail (SSCV) is looking forward to accommodating the needs of our young skiers and snowboarders once the proposed clubhouse at Golden Peak is completed.

During my time at Ski & Snowboard Club Vail (SSCV) our most impassioned discussions have evolved around providing opportunities for the children of our community to fulfill their snow sports dreams without being hindered by their family’s financial means. 

Hi Families, During this holiday season, we think about being with those we care about most and maybe those that can’t be with us. On the athletic side it is also the time when the competition/training season can ramp up.

It’s “go time” at Ski & Snowboard Club Vail (SSCV)! The “pay-off” for all of the hard work put in by SSCV athletes in the off season both on snow and in conditioning is showcased at competitions all over the state and around the world.

Over 150 Vail Ski & Snowboard Academy (VSSA) students along with staff were captivated by this week’s Monday All School Meeting speaker, Tom Kelly, Vice President of Communications at the United States Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA).

Following USSA Freeski Club of the Year honors in both 2013 and 2014 the SSCV Freeski Program continues to set the standard among the more than 300 USSA clubs in the nation.

Confidence: Where does it come from, how does one get it and why might it fluctuate? Before these questions are answered a few things can be considered: Confidence is a skill: Athletes have to choose actions and ways of thinking that increase confidence. In general it is part of a long term process.

It has been an exciting year for the Ski & Snowboard Club Vail (SSCV) Freestyle Program, enjoying successes at every level, under the leadership of Program Director John Dowling.
