Mogul High School Team | Grades 9-12 & PG
Technical progressions for mogul skiing and jumping begin with spring and summer training sessions and regular dryland training. Mogul High School Team athletes work with Minturn Fitness Center coaches and trainers throughout the year to prepare for the physical demands of sport.
The off-season camp schedule begins in June with water ramps followed by on-snow camps at Mount Hood in July and a possible international camp in the early fall as calendared. The early season training begins with flats in October (usually starting around mid-October) and then moves to an early season training course on the Golden Peak Expansion (usually early November) and later transitions to a dedicated site on Golden Peak. Snow training continues through the winter competition season, and extends through early May.
The Mogul High School Team program maintains an approximately 8:1 athlete to staff ratio, and focuses on teaching skiers to become complete athletes with strong knowledge of themselves and their sport. SSCV’s RMF and FIS coaches collaborate with athletes to review performance and to target goals for technical skill development and competition performance. Mogul High School Team athletes must sign and fulfill the Mogul High School Team Contract and attend regularly scheduled training. The Mogul High School Team athletes are responsible for tracking their attendance and training in journal form.
Athletes in this program are expected to enroll in spring camps and water ramp camps. Summer camp and fall camps are strongly advised. The physical conditioning program beginning in June includes trampoline (trampoline center located at VSSA), strength, endurance, power and balance.
