In the 2019-20 season, 11 of SSCV’s Nordic athletes qualified for Junior Nationals. Over the last five years, there have been 2 Individual Junior Nationals Champs named from our pool of athletes – Nolan Herzog in 2015 and Haley Brewster in 2019. We have also had 21 top 5 finishes at Junior Champs since 2015, and have additionally qualified 5 athletes to Scando Cup trips. In the last 16 years with SSCV, 36 athletes have left the Valley and our program to ski at various colleges.
Nordic Competition Team | Ages 14-19
Athletes will have full-time coaching beginning May 15, including strength, cardio, ski-specific training, technique and multiple testing opportunities throughout the year. Families can expect monthly communication throughout the season to stay abreast of progress and developments. All athletes will be required to have an RMN and USSA license.
Ages: U16 – U20 (YOB 2001-2006)
Pipeline: Competition Team athletes will focus on the Fall USSA SuperTour Calendar, RMN JNQs, and Junior Nationals.
Program Dates: May 1, 2020 to March 26, 2021
Training Days: Dryland – Monday-Saturday (Tuesday and Sunday off)
On Snow – Monday-Saturday (Tuesday and Sunday off)

- Strength & conditioning program will be run through the Minturn Fitness Center. Typically two days per week during the dry-land period.
- Goal-setting will be conducted during early dry-land and early during the on-snow period with a review after the competition season.
- Evaluations will be conducted mid-season by December 15 and end-of-season by April 1.
- One-on-one sessions by appointment
- LT testing to be conducted through the Minturn Fitness Center

**If your family has more than one athlete, your points will be that of the athlete with the higher balance**
**Contributions of $5,000 or more on an unrestricted basis to SSCV’s Annual Campaign make the volunteer commitment optional. If a family does not complete all of its volunteer obligations during the period from May 1, 2020 through April 30, 2021 they will be required to pay an amount to SSCV by May 30, 2021 equal to 20% of the program fees for each child enrolled at SSCV for the 2020-2021 season.
**SSCV Program Fees include only regular season on-snow training at Vail and Beaver Creek (and for snowboard, freeski park and pipe and big mountain athletes at SSCV Summit County training areas and for Nordic athletes within the Vail Valley) and regular season strength and conditioning in the Vail Valley. SSCV Program Fees exclude all other fees and charges, such as but not limited to the following: early season and late season training and transportation fees and charges, all camps, all ski passes and lift tickets at all mountains, all competition entry fees, all travel, room and board charges, all governing body and association fees, all coach expenses during travel, all van fees (other than in state van fees back and forth to training or competition) and all team jackets and apparel.
