Haley Brewster qualified for World Junior Championships during the 2020-21 season. In the 2019-20 season, 11 of SSCV’s Nordic athletes qualified for Junior Nationals. Over the last five years, there have been 2 Individual Junior Nationals Champs named from our pool of athletes – Nolan Herzog in 2015 and Haley Brewster in 2019. We have also had 21 top 5 finishes at Junior Champs since 2015, and have additionally qualified 5 athletes to Scando Cup trips. In the last 16 years with SSCV,  36 athletes have left the Valley and our program to ski at various colleges.

Nordic Development Team | Ages 14-19

Athletes will have full-time coaching beginning May 1 including strength, cardio, ski-specific training, technique and multiple testing opportunities throughout the year. All Development Team members are required to purchase a USSA Competitor’s License and RMN Nordic License. Athletes will be required to meet a minimum athletic standard to qualify.

Ages: U16 – U20 (YOB 2002-2007)

Pipeline: Development Team athletes will focus on RMN JNQs, and Junior Nationals. 

Program Dates: May 1, 2021 to March 25, 2022

Training Days

  • Dry-land Season: Monday – Saturday (Tuesday and Sunday off)
  • Winter: Monday – Saturday (Tuesday and Sunday off)

Additional Notes

  • Strength & conditioning program will be run through the Minturn Fitness Center. Typically two days per week during the dry-land period.
  • Goal-setting will be conducted during early dry-land and early during the on-snow period with a review after the competition season.
  • Evaluations will be conducted mid-season by December 15 and end-of-season by April 1.

Volunteer Point Requirement: You are required to complete the following volunteer points: 100 points

**If your family has more than one athlete, your points will be that of the athlete with the higher balance**

**Contributions of $5,000 or more on an unrestricted basis to SSCV’s Annual Campaign make the volunteer commitment optional. If a family does not complete all of their volunteer obligations for the 2021-2022 season during the period from May 1, 2021 through April 30, 2022 and the family is paying the CO Resident Program Fee in 2021-2022, then in 2022-2023 they will be required to pay the 2022-2023 Non-Resident Program Fee for the child whose program has the highest volunteer point requirement in 2022-2023.  If a family does not complete all of their volunteer obligations for the 2021-2022 season during the period from May 1, 2021 through April 30, 2022 and the family is paying the Non-Resident Program Fee in 2021-2022, then they will be required to pay an additional amount to SSCV by May 30, 2022 equal to 20% of the 2021-2022 Non-Resident Program Fee for the child whose program has the highest volunteer point requirement in 2021-2022.

**SSCV Program Fees include only regular season on-snow training at Vail and Beaver Creek (and for snowboard, freeski park and pipe and freeride athletes at SSCV Summit County training areas, and for Nordic athletes within the Vail Valley) and regular season strength and conditioning in the Vail Valley. SSCV Program Fees exclude all other fees and charges, such as but not limited to the following: early season and late season training and transportation fees and charges, all camps, all ski passes and lift tickets at all mountains, all competition entry fees, all travel, room and board charges, all governing body and association fees, all coach expenses during travel, all van fees (other than in state van fees back and forth to training or competition) and all team jackets and apparel.
